Getting Help

Mental illness can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender, or family history. If you think that you or someone you know may be experiencing a mental illness, it is important to know that help is available. There are many different types of mental illness, with many different symptoms. There are also a variety of available treatments including counseling and support, as well as medication.

In just about every case, getting help in the early stages can dramatically increase treatment success. A good place to start is by discussing your concerns with a family physician. There are also a variety of community resources available as well as the programs and services offered by the Canadian Mental Health Association - Calgary Region.
